Awake and Alive

The most amazing thing i felt when I was in Purola was that it made me feel as if i was wide awake, the freshness in the air early morning gave a true feeling of being alive. The amount of smoke and dust we take in, it becomes necessary to refresh our breathing engines. I woke up a little late in the morning though, saw Pia clicking pics of the natural surroundings, hills, trees, people etc. I know i have been speaking a lot about me in this updates but the only reason being its hard to understand whats going on in the minds of a avid traveler or explorer like her.

She started showing me some beautiful sites around as we walked along the roof terrace of our hotel. She has an keen eye when it comes to spotting things. You can understand that through her photography and writings. I call them weirdly artistic to make her angry but when I am alone in my room and start reading her updates in facebook or looking at the pics she clicked, I do tend to become lost in the depth of her imagination.

Truly and madly in love with her sometimes the passion is so high that separation makes us feel week and sick. I asked her if she wants to be with me inside a Iglu ? She said your mad. I still dint figure out what she meant should i do it or not ? Will she be with me inside it ? Or she just puts the idea in the dustbin as a crap. I tell you girls so sophisticated. They just cant say straight "NO".

I told her to lets get ready, have breakfast and go on exploring the green valleys of purola, I can say that much its better if Yash raj would have shot here instead of Switzerland, may be Incredible India would have been promoted instead of Switzerland Tourism. Quickly we got ready and went downstairs after having breakfast. A mile of walk led us out of the town into the fields where terrace farming can be seen. Beautiful lush green fields, covering the huge valley between small hills of the Himalayas. We ran here and there, touched the dew filled tips of the wild grass. It was so fresh and amazing. I was unable to understand if I was in love with the location or the girl I was with. I though of coming out of this dilemma by asking her for an answer.

Guess what she said... She said " Thanks ".

The Adventure of Purola

Later that evening after the landslide we reached Purola. We got down from the bus to a small town surrounded by green hills from all sides. The view would have been much better I thought if there were no houses in the valley. But its was okay as we will set off for the sightseeing and adventure from the next day to explore the hidden parts of the valley.

We booked a room in a hotel there with a view from top so that we can see the landscape of the valley properly. We both were tired so decided to regain our energy for the rest of the journey. After that tiring bus drive all I wanted was a nice bed to lie down. Pia freshened up and ordered some snacks while was flipping through the channels in the Tv.

I have always mentioned that its all about the Journey and not the destination but I was getting new meanings of the statement, revelation of the soul, questions that was hard to be understood forget about the solutions. Love, Pain, Adventure, Truth, Reality and wants all these things were getting new dimensions. I ordered a beer and started glaring at the view outside and nearly forgot about Pia. Sometimes you become selfish just to take time out for urself, to think what you want, what makes you happy. There is always a reason to live, finding that and believing in that is the tough choice that you have to make. You always want the best seats in a theatre but only once in a while you get the seats numbered A1, A2. I was afraid as I dint want a paradigm shift in my thoughts. I wanted to be myself. Looking at the landscape, green hills, one after the other, some look blue, some dark grey, some rocky ones, some with trees, the vast sky over you, the wet leaves, the dripping water, the sound of the wind, the sound of peace and tranquility this is reality. The truth that you want to believe is far away from what you know. You believe that your lost in the valley, away from everyone, you are into the deep wild places where no one can find you. Not a soul can see you, keep an watch on you or contact you, but the very next moment you realise what you think is not the truth. You are not alone.

This is you. The new found you, the one that you have searching, you want to be lost but you found by yourself. The wild welcomes you with open arms and let you explore your inner self rather than what you think you wanna explore. Looking at small ant you realise that you have to carry your burden and it can be way heavier than you imagine. Your soul start taking a new dimension altogether, the giving back, the taking away of purity. Now you look at things at a different perspective. A journey is complete when you find a new you, else you dont fit to travel.

Moments of The Land Slide

I saw an array of vehicles ahead of the bus we were in. Tourist vehicles, private cars, buses etc. were all waiting for the road to be remade. I went down the bus while Pia was sleeping there itself on the seat. I asked someone in the crowd, how far is the jam to which he replied its more than a km. I hated it but what to do nature keeps reminding you that don't overload me with human craps and over population. I started taking snaps of the breath taking beauty in front of my eyes. It was good to feel the fresh chilly air that was blowing. I was afraid that we will be late what if we don't get a place to rest at night?

Thoughts kept coming to my mind as I sat down over a rock and clicked. What if the landslide doesn't get over? If we cant cross to the other side to a village or town where we will stay for the night. Caves or mountain tops which one to choose to stay for the night, like the locals who get stuck. I thought this will be an exciting experience but was worried about Pia. I have always wanted staying in a cave, exploring it till we find a dead end. Meghalaya has a lot of unexplored caves may be someday I can explore them. Exploration is fun, the thrill, suspense, risk, darkness, slippery tracks, low ceilings, fear of snakes and other insects etc. Caves are formation takes million years, just imagine you explore one and it becomes World heritage site or a huge tourist destination, everybody will remember your contribution.

All I wished was spending a night with Pia safe, that what my mind was saying but my heart wanted me to stay in a cave and leave in the morning. Make a bonfire inside the cave, take out some stuff from your bag roll a cigarette, lie down and smoke it as if today is the last day. Think about what you wanna do in life, or write something, get lost in the wild, things to do before you die. Life cant be more fun that this. I mean everyday you wake up in your bed the same way with half sleepy eyes, and slangs in your mind. Hate to go work or college, spend the rest of the day the same boring way. Yeah all this is good but lets not make life monotonous, there more things than what you do or have done. You got to explore the wild. Its always Man VS Wild.

I heard people say the jam was over and the bus was about to start, so I climbed into the bus and sat at my seat again, waking Pia. She said what happend and I told that there was landslide and now its over, we are on our way to Purola.

Towards Hidden Valley Part III

Wow, that was the feeling when we were glancing towards few tracks which can be crossed by trekking. Through the window we can see locals take their belongings and walk up to their homes, crossing streams, hills, rocks. For them nothing is difficult. Sometimes I think what motivates them to do so much hardship. Days after days climbing up and down mountains, getting stuck in landslides, living in caves or place where they can hide themselves for the night. They dont have the word tired in their dictionary. Is living in the hills a boon or a curse? Life is so easy and comfortable in the plains still frown in the forehead never goes away. Smiles are the rarest expression that one has to offer to others. But cities have man- made beauty, old cultures which are fading away with the generation x.

Where as in hills life is quiet, life is slow, life is tough. One has reasons of his own to love hills. Some love because of the natural beauty that it has to offer, some for the relaxation, some for the adventure, some for the chillness in the wind, some for the freshness that it provides. I love it because I feel I belong here. I maybe was born to travel, discover, to serve the rural communities, to help them in what so ever possible, sometimes just being guests in their home stays. When I go back I dont forget to promote them. People are unaware about the power of tourism, they need to understand how travel change the people's mind. Make them thoughful, its not always about being on a tour for fun its about discovering something. This is what I feel, This is what I am.

Pia on the other hand is more curious traveller, she just wants to see more and more unique places before she dies. She also wants to travel just because she needs fresh air and days off from the crowded lanes of Delhi. And off course romance is always beautiful in a lonely place than in Delhi.

Thoughts kept coming to my mind until we reached a place where the bus stopped for lunch. We got down and ordered two Thalis. The restaurant or shall I call it Dhaba was not much expensive one. We both stuffed as much we can because we dint knew when will the bus stop again. We did buy some chips and water for the rest of the journey. The weather was becoming cloudy and the wind became colder. I asked Pia if she was feeling cold. She said yes I am feeling a bit cold, it might rain. I said casually it happens we are climbing uphill. I dont think to which she was much convinced as I always try and show I know more than her. Must be annoying when someone try and show he is intelligent or knowledgeable more than you in all spheres. Though I havnt seen her complaining about this. I felt I should stop doing this and listen to her more than usual. This is one habit I havnt developed yet. May be this trip will bond us more. The bus was about to start when I clicked a few shots of the amazing beauty of the Garwal Himalayas. Lonely green hills with stream flowing by amazing twists and turns, cloudy weather hills one after the other lined up as if they are natural walls protecting the wild from the destructive mankind.

Places to hide, caves, slopes, curves, bends are few features of the hills. Nomads, trekkers, and other travelers love staying in these places. The locals who stay there since are ones who have spent the most time in these places, they are original habitats of the these places, they belong here. How difficult they feel migrating to the city leaving all the beauty of nature. They have certain qualities which its hard for city people to have. They have an amazing stamina, speed, energy which you cant even match. They have been born in difficult conditions, survived the hardships. People of the hills are also simple as compared to the ones in cities. Cheers to them.

Pia said to me that she was sleepy now and wants to sleep. I told her to keep her head on my shoulders and sleep. She asked by how much time we will reach, I said we will reach by 3 hours time. Told her that I will wake her up when we will reach Purola. And made her sleep caressing her forehead.
But this dint happen, after a while we reached a point where there was a long line of vehicles waiting because of a land slide.

Towards Hidden Valley Part II

Vagabondish, thats the word, we were turning into something. The stage was set for an ultimate adventure. Hills were calling, the serenity, the peace, the untouched nature. Living in the mountains is tough in terms of standard of living but if one can stay there for a while thats the best thing to do. The romance is so passionate and deep, so deep, so intense, that no matter how unromantic you are the poet in you comes out. In mountains everyday is valentines day. Love thy Nature and Nature will love you back. Try not to leave you Foot prints.

We crossed Dehradoon and started going uphill, our time was passing by with the scintillating view of the Garhwal mountains. Pia loves looking out of the window most of the time she is seen doing that only, enjoying the God's creations. I asked Pia if she had heard about the Five mile gap story? She replied I am watching Tv. Yes I forgot to mention she calls the window, laptop or anything in which we can view something as Tv. But thats how she is passionate about travel, places, people, adventures. The Five Mile Gap is a place deep in the remote region of Tibet, the mighty Tsangpo River, which flows onto the Indian subcontinent as the Brahmaputra, churns around a great bend. The river then disappears from sight, lost in an inaccessible canyon flanked by sheer cliffs. This "Five Mile Gap" had never been explored and was believed to boast the highest waterfall in Asia -- the "Hidden Falls of the Brahmaputra." Behind those cascades, Tibetan texts claimed, lay the door to Yangsang, the ultimate hidden land of immortality, reachable only by those with purified hearts and minds. I sometime thought will grab a beer there but thats just me grabbing beer in remote areas is what I loved to do. But I always need a good company to travel with. I havn't felt bad travelling with Pia and I am quite sure that the same feeling she has. Sometimes I wonder how much we both will travel and till how long. Is there any limit to travel ? I don't think we both can get bored of travelling.

Crossing one hill after another the bus was moving at quite a good speed. Though the driver was a little slow in the hair pin bends which allowed me to take few photographs of the queen of hills Mussorie. The View was breathtaking. Small water falls, rocky mountains fresh cool wind. No wonder they say this place as God's own land. Its a love at first site for every traveller. And if its not then there must some manufacturing defect in that person. This place is just awesome. I said to Pia that next time we need to come on a bike and enjoy the roller coaster ride. When you are in your own vehicle u can stop anywhere and just stare at the view for hours. And I bet you blink an eye. Its Incredible India.

Towards Hidden Valley

The Night had started great, the driver increased the acceleration and we were on the move. It was hot in Delhi and I was expecting it to become cooler as the night progress. It feels great when your sitting next to the women you wanna always hangout with, go on a perfect adventure, no restrictions, no drama, no social barrier, a free bird flying to you holding your hand and sitting next to you looking outside the window feeling the breeze. Smile comes automatically.

Once the bus hit the highway the breeze became cooler and we became more relaxed and chilled. I asked her of she was comfortable to which she replied that she is always is. I still can't figure out whats on her mind though! You never know things with girls. There were few more couples in the bus but I don't think so anyone was as adventurous as us. Maybe we both are altogether a different breed. I asked her if she is a traveler or tourist?
Pretty apt was the reply, she said she is in a dilemma about the fact that she is a tourist or traveler. She said "I have been a tourist for 20 odd years but with you I am transforming into a traveler. The travel that we do is different than others." With a little romantic gesture of her hands touching my cheeks she continued saying in a soft voice " with you I have started learning about different places, knowing different people, culture and traditions, sticking to the roots, living among them and offcourse you can't forget that leaving your footprints doesn't help. Every place should be kept untouched for the others to come."

I have always told her that the golden rule of travelling is understanding the place, not to rush things because when you rush you don't experience. If you rush you don't visit the place again. You don't take back good memories. The more experiential the journey the more memories of it. One more thing that I have always believed is to chat with local people, getting local, they are people too, staring at them awkwardly isn't necessary. One shouldn't be doing it. There is always a very, very rarely a good reason to visit a fast food franchise that you know from home. Pick something local and interesting its good, because when you are in Thailand you eat Octopus and other different Thai food and not Alu paratha in some Indian restaurant. I mean whats the point if you havn't tried anything different. Its good to say one should feel like home when they are travelling but not always because if you want that then better stay at home as you are not really travelling.

The Next morning was amazing, half asleep I woke up rubbing my eyes looking out through the window. All I see is greenery and the Sun just rising slowly. We had crossed Haridwar and were about to reach Dehradoon. I did let her sleep and woke her up just before we reached. It was 7 : 30 am when we reached it was pretty tiering in the bus dint get much of a sleep. We washed our face in a dhaba and ordered breakfast. She asked me whats next, I said we are going Purola in Uttarkashi district. She asked whats so special about the place. I replied smilingly Columbus dint know what was in America before he discovered it. I said not to worry about the destination just experience the journey of her lifetime.

After breakfast we went inside the ISBT and took a bus to Purola. Grabbed our seats and started our journey with a smile and anxiety. Pia said " I am excited to know whats in store." I like a vagabond was on my way to adventure. I only know the route, I myself dont know whats in store. Just packed bags and left in search of nirvana via adventure of a lifetime., no worries, no fear, no complains, no communication, lost in the wild, discovering world of our own. All I can say is we are destined towards the Hidden Valley, where the fields are green, Some where out there we must find where we belong, Somewhere...

Beginning of the Journey Part 2

Later that night I was having thoughts about my past life and the last time I was in the hills. I was alone that time and had just broken up from a relationship which I still cherish somewhat. I was alone in the hills at that time,

When the dark clouds came over
the chillness made you shiver
you fell in love once again with India
this time it was for the nature.
Surrounded by memories you sitting alone
thinking she ditched you or you were the moron

Eyes fell dizzy with more and more wine
remembering the day you met her 31st July 2009

It was the hills that made you closer
Its the hills that still remains
her love has bowled you over
hills with her you last chance to sustain.

Mesmerized by her looks you ought to feel for her
cant deny the fact she touched your soul
she resisted your anger, she wiped your tears
she loved you more than anything
loosing you was her only fear.

With all these sweet old memories of my last girlfriend I started to move on. It was time for Pia, It was time for Adventurous Love in Offbeat India.
Me and Pia moved to Anand Vihar metro station and took tickets for Kasmiri Gate ISBT, it was around 8: 30 pm that time when we boarded the train. The rush was less as it was already late, we sat on the empty seats and started engaging ourselves into some conversation. I kept the suspense alive by not saying Pia where we are going. She must have been thinking that I was again taking her to Rishikesh for white water rafting, but I have thought of some thing more adventurous this time. Though I told her I' ll tell her about the destination just before we are about to reach there. I was hoping everything goes on fine else she would kill me for my insanity. I don't care whatever everyone calls it, I call it offbeating.

Never the less we reached Kashmiri Gate and went to Mc Donalds to stuff some burgers in our empty stomach. 1 veg and 1 non veg has always been our order. We ate as much we can and packed some food for the trip. I went to the medical shop nearby and took some medicines for emergency and not to forget condoms, because when your travelling you need to have condoms with you, you never know when you need them.

Finally we went inside ISBT(Interstate Bus terminal) and took a bus to Dehradoon. And she 99% was sure that we are going rafting. I was enjoying the moment with her and was happy thinking how surprised she will be when she would come across something new. I wanted her to feel like Columbus or Vasco Da Gama, discovering new lands, so zipped my mouth. The bus started filling with passengers, we also sat on our seats, it was almost ready for departure and the clock was ticking 11: 00 pm at that time. The honking of the bus started as if leonardo di caprio was about to board the Titanic. But this journey will be remembered more because of the mixture of love and adventure or should I say Adventours Love in Offbeat India.

Beginning of the Journey

Its been quite a while since this thought came to my mind, and now I finally decided to give it some words. Experiences and memorabilia have always touched and inspired others to travel, apart from oneself. Some fall in love with the place, some with the adventure, some with the experience, and some with the company they travel. Thats what happened with the two of us. Me and Pia were one such travelers who enjoyed each others company so much that no matter how extreme is the situation, we still use to have our laugh. We use to breathe freedom when we traveled, the curiosity of what's next was our energy drink. Ya its rightfully an experience worth a lifetime.

This journey started from Delhi, away from the hustle bustle we wanted calmness and freeness in the breeze. After leaving from office on a Friday we went to a tea shop and started having tea. While sitting there we thought what should be done for the weekend. Pia as usual with her girlie characteristics was in a mood of going shopping on Saturday and told me to come along, for a movie later in the evening. But I wasn't interested so I asked her to come over to my place and stay. I told her will cook something delicious and watch TV. As conversation went on and one tea went to four teas we reach a point when we dint have to say much to each other we understood that we need to find calmness away from the noise of Delhi. I told her to go home and pack as fast as she can and call me when she is ready to leave. And I started walking back towards my room. She reached home and called up, I thought she was ready so picked my bag and went towards the door and then answered the call. She asked me on phone where the hell are we going ?? I replied we are going else where.

I am a Traveler

Isolation, thats the word, lying down under the sky, looking at the stars, sipping on to beer. All you feel is that it can't get better than this. A full moon night near the beach, cool wind blowing, the sound of water reaching your ears. Loneliness yes its better than the crowded cities that we belong to.
In a lifetime people go as close and often to nature as possible thats the beauty of its attraction. Some fall in love with the hills and some with beaches. Some with culture and some with wildlife. The attraction as I feel is powerful than gravity. I love to travel, I love capturing the nature in my lens. I love all kind of places that has something to offer. I don't like to discriminate as each place is as beautiful than the other. Everything has its own charm.
Ya I am a foody too diffent cuisines of different places have their own taste. People should taste as much as possible. One life u may not get the chance the next time. Its now or never.
In India you have everything that a traveler looks for, hills, beaches, heritage sites, temples, monsoon, wildlife, culture, landscapes, snow peaks, deserts etc. The journey in India never ends. Yeah its Incredible India. I am a traveler , I am an Offbeater.

Let me Lead my own life

Please let me lead my own life
I have my own space for myself
I am not bothered about what I could not achieve.
Abundance would ruin my life.

In your obscure world
If you wish, you can float like a speck of dust
I am not going to dip into the future.

My world is shattered ( Literally : the mast of my ship is shattered )
Still I am scripring my own survival tale.
I am no longer game for her midnight tantrums
So I am trying hard to get on the shore.

If one early morning you re-discover your love for me,
Dont stretch your arms for me
As I wont be there by your side.
Dont turn on the lights for me
I have got lost in the sea of humanity in this railway station.
I wont be back by the last train.

Your world is moving around your ambitions.
If you could ever squeeze out time, please ponder (over)
Whether I really feature in your scheme of affairs.
In your materialistic world,
I dont want to be treated like those vegetables withering in the cold (in fridge )
Or a speck of dust floating in a glass of water.

Let The Wait be Over

When the sun was going down and the coolness in the evening breeze was rising degree by degree, we both walked in the road shaded by trees, holding hands we discovered places that increases the heartbeats with its beauty. The wind started blowing faster as the darkness took over. Coolness of the moon was felt by us as it started becoming colder each second. I reached a place near the lake where a boat was kept by some fisherman. I wanted to be in the middle of the lake with her, so I took her hand and hopped onto the boat.

She sat opposite me looking towards the water and touching them gently with her soft and smooth fingers. By this time the wind was blowing really fast and the boat was moving on its own I just had to give the direction. At first one or two drops fell on hands and maybe hers too. We saw towards the sky together and then back at each other. It’s the first time she saw into my eyes that evening for more than 15 seconds.

I started sowing back to the shore. Just when we reached the shore, she started walking on the wooden plank. The rain started pouring at full flow. With the first lightning and thunder she turned back looking towards me. She was about 10 steps away from me when another lightning made me see her and gosh she is beautiful was the only thought that came to my mind.

The silence of the boat was killed by her when she shouted at me with love in her words and pain in her voice saying “Why don’t you say it? Why you always keep it in your heart? Why don’t you express it? Why…. Why ………..why…?”

I couldn’t have found a better way to reply; I walked up to her and started kissing her with my hands on her waist. We kissed and kissed with rain pouring heavily and we can be seen with the lightning.

The world was busy but there was nobody to disturb us, not even the rain and thunder. Sometimes one should unleash the love stored in one’s heart.

Sun City Jodhpur

Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, featuring many palaces, forts and temples, set in the stark landscape of the Thar Desert. The city is known as the Sun City for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the Blue City due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists. The old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by a thick stone wall. The outskirts of the big city lay so many unexplored regions with a lot of arts and crafts, wild life and of course the Thar. Camel Safari, Bird watching, Horse Riding, Home stays in great landscape of Thar these are the specialties of this area. One can get lost in the amazing beauty, adventure, experience this place has to offer.

One India One Language

India is a country with almost 1600 languages and so much diversity in cultures and we are so proud of it. We have been proud about it for so long time now. But is the diversity doing any help to the people of India? Are people happy? Is there peace all over India? All these questions keep coming in my mind and I find only one answer to them. ONE INDIA ONE LANGUAGE.

I am a student I find people have their own groups of their region. There are differences and I can see irritation and people really uncomfortable when somebody talks in vernacular language. This increases the difference among us. We say we have unity in diversity which is a fake scenario that we are showing it to the world. India is a country which many small countries within herself. Today people want Telengana, Bodoland, Gorkhaland, Bundelkhand etc. This is only because we are getting divided and there aren’t any laws to tie us together. The language difference is a problem to not only people who think it is a problem but who try and ignore it as well. When our country became republic and the constitution was made it was said the Hindi is the official language and member of the parliament will speak in Hindi and those who has problem in speaking Hindi should try and learn Hindi but this hasn’t happened by the time. We have ignored this. HINDI hai hum watan humara Hindustan we have forgotten this. If we ignore Hindi and start speaking in vernacular languages then the people will continue facing the problem the face today. Language shouldn’t be a barrier to communication process of India. If someone takes in Hindi people of Maharashtra has problems with that, what I don’t understand that why they have a problem is Maharashtra outside India or they don’t want to be connected with India. Thinking their state language superior doesn’t makes them superior there are other states who respect Hindi and adopt Hindi and are doing better as compared to Maharashtra. How much do they contribute to the GDP, how many Nobel prizes did people of Maharashtra get. Why they promote Marathi when they can’t improve the name of the country. India is rural based country and its rural areas consist of various languages which the people of the state sometimes have problem to understand. What they state should do is promote the common language so that when some social worker or rural manager goes there to work they don’t have problem in communication and understanding the people. If I am saying anything wrong then I wish to say to the people who think that this diversity of language is good that all of India stand for a single song if anyone has problem then start singing our national anthem in Marathi, Bihari, Punjabi, Telgu, Tamil etc. If you think that is wrong then not having a common language is also wrong. No one has the right to insult the national language. In fact it should be mandatory of each Indian to know Hindi. I feel if you are not comfortable of anyone speaking Hindi in front of u then you are not really a true Indian as you are disrespecting the country’s language. All states should join hands in promotion of Hindi and Hindi should be made mandatory in all schools up to class 10th. In fact like the reality show RODIES telecasted in MTV have a round in which group discussion round is conducted in Hindi. This pattern should be followed by all management colleges and they should make sure that when you are working India you should know Hindi. Promote Hindi should be made an agenda. No language is bigger than the RASHTRA BHASHA. Let’s unite or voices if not the culture. And we definitely see a better understanding between the people of India and the development speed will increase and unity will be attained. No sooner India will be a developed nation with one voice, one word, one language. Jai hind jai Bharat.
